Humpback Whale Experience
Witness humpback whales rest, calve and breed in Niue's deep Pacific waters from July through September.
The experience
Niue lies on the migratory path of Oceanic humpback whales. During the season, these remarkable visitors rest, calve and breed in the waters surrounding the island.
From breaches and spy hops to tail slaps and fin slaps, each movement offers a glimpse of whale behaviour. Every encounter is different and always guided by the animals themselves.
Local guides determine whether an in-water encounter is possible. Getting into the water is never guaranteed—and it does not need to be. Watching and photographing a whale from the boat can be just as powerful.
